Thursday Night Class Rotations
On Thursday evenings we offer a rotation of different class offerings. Note, there is no class on the first Thursday as the studio space is used by others.
Restorative /Yoga Nidra
2nd Thursday 7:00-8:30 pm, with Patricia Castimore
Focus on breath and body to relax the body toward balance. Props are used to assist in holding poses for extended periods to experience progressive relaxation. Students will be gently guided into “yogic sleep”, a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, where awareness is internalized and the deepest possible relaxation is experienced. Guided by the teacher’s voice, students focus on breath and sensations in the body, and become increasingly aware of the inner world while releasing tension and worry. Suitable for all levels.
Meditation
3rd Thursday 7:00-8:30 pm, with Tracy Cochran
Mindfulness meditation is the practice of bringing attention to our present moment experience, observing what is happening without judgment. It is a simple practice that can have a huge impact. It can be an island of calm and clarity in the middle of the rushing stream of life. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, all are welcome.
Tracy Cochran has been a student of meditation and spiritual practice for four decades, with a deep interest in how the challenges and obstacles in life can become a way to wisdom. Tracy also teaches at New York Insight Meditation Center, the Rubin Museum of Art, Katonah Yoga, and in corporations, schools, and libraries throughout the New York area. She is an author, and also the editor of Parabola Magazine.
Practicing Hope: A Guided Sound Therapy Series
4th Thursday 7:00-8:30 pm with Celine Daly and Kristin Prevallet
Thursday, May 25th: Interested in experiencing energy healing in a welcoming, spacious and serene setting? Reiki is a spiritual healing art, a subtle and effective form of energy work using gentle, guided life force energy. (It is not massage, nor is it associated with any particular religious practice.) Led by a Reiki Master, we gather to settle into stillness and share our intentions for healing. Newcomers can receive basic instruction and ask questions. We then create small groups of attendees that work as teams, taking turns to allow each person to receive this compassionate, healing energy as well as to give it. Those new to Reiki as well as experienced practitioners of all levels are welcome.
